What's New In Self-Referral?

RCS Wales

RCS Wales supports people who are in employment (can be temp, 0 hours and self employed) who are struggling with MSK and / or psychological problems and are considering going off on sick, or are sick.  A employee can self-refer or be referred by their GP or employer. Once the referral is received, it is triaged and the employee can can access MSK / PHYSIO or counselling (or both) within 2 weeks. As RCS are quite new to Hywel Dda and currently don’t have a waiting list, patients are being seen the very next day after referral!

What is Self-Referral?

Some areas within the NHS offer a self-referral service, which means you can arrange to meet with a specialist without having to see a doctor first.

This service is particularly suitable for people with relatively simple conditions such as joint pain, strains and/or other injuries.  It is also available for those who require psychological services for the treatment of depression for example.

If you have more complex needs please see your doctor first.

MSK Physiotherapy Self-Referral

  • The MSK Physiotherapy service should be utilised for anyone over the age of 14 with a musculoskeletal condition/injury or recovering from any orthopaedic surgery that is requiring treatment/input or advice for their condition.
  • These services are not currently available for domiciliary visits, specialist neuro or respiratory physiotherapy.
  • We do not accept self-referral for pelvic health physiotherapy.
